Come and see The New Fiver on Bury Market

Visitors to Bury Market can see and touch The New Fiver, the first Bank of England note to be printed on polymer, next Wednesday (13 July).

The New Fiver feels different to paper notes, is 15% smaller than the current £5 note and has a number of new security features.

The Bank is keen to make sure that citizens become familiar with the new note by the time it goes into circulation on 13 September this year.

Bank staff will be on the outdoor market all day to allow members of the public to see the note for themselves, and also to educate retailers on how to identify genuine notes.
