Press release -
Animal quackers at Pinfold Lane Day Centre
There’s no ducking the evidence that wildlife has a positive effect on customers who use Pinfold Lane Day Centre in Whitefield.
Thanks to generous donations, and the work of local handymen, the centre now boasts a duck pond in its enclosed garden.
Daisy and Donald, a pair of Carolina ducks, have just moved into their new home, and will soon be joined by two Mandarin ducks.
A Bury Council spokesman said: “The ducks join our established fish ‘residents’ in providing an entertaining and calming focus for our customers, all of whom have a diagnosis of dementia or
Alzheimer's disease.
“There have been many studies into the benefits of keeping domestic animals in a day care setting and there is no doubt that our customers enjoy our current friendly animals.”
