Carers – have your say about the support you need

Thousands of carers in Bury are being invited to share their thoughts and ideas on how services to support them can be improved.

The council wants to hear the views of carers, people who support carers and from people who understand the vital role that carers play in the health and wellbeing of those they look after.

Residents are asked to spend a few minutes completing the Carers Survey 2018: https://www.onecommunitybury.co.uk/carers

If you would like a hard copy of the survey, please call 0161 253 5439.

The survey doesn’t have to be fully completed: all information gathered is valuable and will feed in to the final results.

The council has already applied for funding to the Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership for the following proposals: community-based support for all carers, creating additional capacity within the Bury Young Carers Service, and the development of online self-assessments for adults caring for other adults (statutory carers assessments). This does not mean, though, that other elements cannot be added.

Councillor Andrea Simpson, cabinet member for health and wellbeing, said: “Carers do a tremendous and often unsung job in looking after the most vulnerable people in our society, and we need to support them as best we can. During this 12-week consultation and engagement exercise, we want to hear their views on how services can be tailored to their needs.”
