Champagne occasion as Bury Market welcomes 1,500th coach this year
Oakleaf coach driver Terence Carpenter received a sparkling surprise when he made one of his regular trips to Bury’s award-winning market.
He was driving the 1,500th coach to have visited Bury Market in 2015, bringing visitors from all over the UK and abroad.
To mark the occasion, Terence was presented with a complimentary bottle of champagne by the Mayor of Bury, Councillor Stella Smith.
She said: “We’re delighted that so many coach operators continue to visit our famous award-winning market. We met Terence at the new official market drop-off point, which has been hugely popular both with coach drivers and passengers.”
Barnsley-based Oakleaf Travel has 11 drivers who come to Bury Market two or three times a week.
