Events to mark Dementia Awareness Week

A wide range of events is taking place in Bury to mark Dementia Awareness Week, which runs from Sunday 18 May to Saturday 24 May.

This year’s theme is “Don’t bottle it up” which aims to people to talk about Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias as well as raising awareness and funds across the UK.

Bury Council, Making Space, the Alzheimer’s Society and partners will be hosting a variety of events throughout the week to help the cause.

A full list of the events is below:

Monday 19 May

·  Free education workshop for those caring for a loved one with Alzheimer's disease or other dementias: from 1pm to 4.30pm at Home Instead, 116a Bury New Road, Whitefield. Please book your place with Kevin on 0161

· Dementia Café and talk from Rachel Yates: from 2pm to 3.30pm at Bankfield, Gigg Lane, Bury. Please book at 0161 764 8552 or email  donnabrowne@bankfield.org

Tuesday 20 May

· Dementia talk, information, one-to-one support and advice (refreshments available): from 9am to 10.30am at Summerseat Garden Centre, Railway Street, Bury.

· Alzheimer's Society information bus: from 10am to 4pm at Tesco, Woodfield Retail Park, Peel
Way, Bury.

· Coffee morning and Dementia Friends Awareness Session: from 10am to noon, at Delicious Cafe at
the Fusilier Museum, Moss Street, Bury.

· Pop-up dementia café: advice and support from 11am to 1pm at Radcliffe Health Centre. 

· Drop-in advice session: from 2pm to 3pm at Unsworth Library, Bury.

Friday 23 May
