Press release -

Help with careers, training and work

Bury Council is working with the National Careers Service (NCS) to provide residents with advice on learning, training and work opportunities.

Appointments can be made to see the NCS at the council’s offices in Whittaker Street, Radcliffe, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

The NCS service can help customers to fill in application forms and

write a professional CV, improve interview and job searching skills, obtain work experience, and to explore career options.

Referrals can be made by telephoning 01204 374390 or using the customer freephones in Whittaker Street and the reception area at Bury Town Hall.

Linked to this, Bury’s council’s tax and benefits teams are also working with the Citizens Advice Bureau, offering appointments at Whittaker Street for customers who are struggling with debt and changes in their circumstances.

Councillor John Smith, cabinet member for finance and corporate affairs, said: “In these difficult economic times, it’s vital that we do all we can to help people get back to work and manage their finances. Working with other agencies should give residents a more holistic service and support those most in need.”
