Hundreds take part in Plan for Change consultation

More than 300 people have had their say in the latest round of consultation about the council’s Plan for Change.

They took the chance to make their views known on the council’s draft programme of savings, which sets out how the authority plans to save £26 million between 2012-13 and 2014-15.

The council received a total of 364 responses, comprising 55 completed online questionnaires, 187 emails and letters, and 122 comments at public meetings.

Councillor John Smith, deputy leader and cabinet member for corporate affairs, said: “I’d like to thank all those who took part in this consultation. We know how passionate people are about local services, but they also appreciate the financial position of the council and realise that we have incredibly tough choices to make.

“I can assure people that all the responses will be looked at and considered before the council has to set its budget on 20 February.”
