Press release -

Important changes to our library service

Bury’s four libraries will be closing to the public from today (Monday 23 March) to reduce social contact and combat the spread of Covid-19.

Residents will not be able to visit the branches in Bury, Radcliffe, Ramsbottom or Prestwich until further notice. Bury Archives service will also be closed.

However, residents can still join the library online and read thousands of books from home on their PC, tablet or smart phone. For eBooks and eAudiobooks, go to our Borrowbox site at www.bury.gov.uk/ebooks

A council spokesman said: “Don’t worry if you have any books which are due to be returned – you will not be fined. Just bring them back once the coronavirus pandemic is over: we’ll let you know when the libraries reopen full services.

“Please understand this decision is necessary to help protect the vulnerable and minimise the spread of coronavirus.”
