Improving road safety at Prestwich junctions

Work will start on 1 September to signalise the junction of Bury Old Road/Whittaker Lane, Prestwich which will include pedestrian and cycle crossing facilities.

Alterations will also be made to the car park at Heaton Park Metrolink station and during this period the car park will be closed.

The works are being promoted by Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) and Bury Council to improve road safety around the junction and provide improved access for pedestrians and cyclists between the Metrolink station and Heaton Park.

These highway works are scheduled to last eight weeks, and some advance work is already being carried out by BT Openreach and Electricity North West on Whittaker Lane.
