Press release -

New features at township forum meetings

Two new features to keep the public informed are being introduced at meetings of Whitefield and Unsworth Township Forum.

There will be a 'market place' before the regular meeting starts, when service providers can give advice and help on important issues. There will also be a new 'updates' item to keep everyone abreast of the latest developments on long-running matters of community interest.

The next meeting of the forum is on Tuesday 8 September, at St Andrew's Church in Mersey Drive, Whitefield.

At 6pm, Wigan and Leigh CAB will be providing Pension Wise, a free and impartial service to help people understand recent major changes in the pension system and how this will affect them and their families.

The meeting proper begins at 6.30pm, with updates on local matters including the Uplands medical centre, the former Whitefield Town Hall and land at Higher Lane.

The agenda will also include updates from neighbourhood police officers and on funding available to community groups, plus the usual 'open forum' when residents can raise any matter of local concern.

For further information contact Ruth Shedwick, township co-ordinator, at r.shedwick@bury.gov.uk or 0161 253 5327.
