New weekly family history sessions at library

Ever been inspired by the TV programmes “Who Do You Think You Are” or “Heir Hunters” to look into your family history?

Weekly drop-in sessions have now started atRadcliffe Libraryon Fridays from 10am to noon. There are also weekly sessions held at BuryArchivesand Museum every Thursday from 10am to 12.30pm.

At Radcliffe you can get help and support from Sylvia Cunningham, a member of Lancashire Family History And Heraldry Society, Bury Group.

Sylvia said: “I first started looking into my family history when my children were very young. I joined the society about 15 years ago and they were a real help in getting to grips with researching old records. I’ve been able to trace my family history back to 1760 and even found that one of my ancestors was a member of the ill-fated Franklin Expedition to the North Pole in 1850. The library is a great resource as they have local records and you can also access Ancestry and FindMyPast for free.”

For further information about the society see http://www.lfhhs.org.uk/
