Recycling centre closed due to fly-tipping and misuse

Recycling centre closed due to fly-tipping and misuse

The recycling centre in Holcombe Brook precinct was closed on Friday 14 December.

The decision has been taken following repeated contamination of the recycling bins and commercial waste being dumped there.

Councillor Gill Campbell, cabinet member for neighbourhoods and regeneration, said: “This site has a long-standing problem of fly-tipping, and is also being used by businesses to dispose of their waste.

“It’s an eyesore, and I’m sure this will be welcomed by local residents, all of whom can now dispose of their recycling through the kerbside collections.”

Residents are reminded that they can check their collection details online at www.bury.gov.uk/bincollections.

Businesses requiring advice on how to dispose of their waste lawfully should contact the waste management service on 0161 253 6622.
