Red Bank extra care scheme opens its doors

Scores of local residents came to see the opening of the borough’s new £6 million Red Bank extra care scheme.

 The open day ‘Age is just a Number’ was a great success with 200 members of the community visiting the scheme, which has been created by Bury Council and Six Town Housing.

 The celebrations started with speeches from Councillor Mike Connolly, leader of the council; Hugh Broadbent, chair of Six Town Housing; and the Mayor of Bury, Cllr Joan Grimshaw, who officially opened Red Bank.

 Visitors were treated to live performances from Radcliffe Primary School Choir and the Bury College Performing Arts Group with a variety of classic and modern songs and dances.

 Activities for all ages included arts and crafts provided by Radcliffe Library, face painting and complementary therapies. Light refreshments were supplied by Brooke’s Cupcakes.

 Toursof the building gave visitors a chance to visit the bistro area, communal lounge and the hair salon.

 The day closed with a raffle and the chance to win prizes donated by New Bank Garden Centre, Londis, Tesco, Palmer’s Florist and Red Bank’s hair salon Generations.

 Cllr Mike Connolly said: “This is a major investment into local people’s care and I’m sure it will be greatly valued by generations to come.”
