Press release -

Topman expands CALMzine across the UK

Thanks to the support of high street menswear brand, Topman, CALM are delighted to announce their free men's magazine, CALMzine, will be available in Topman stores outside London for the first time, as of June 15th.

Launched in November 2011 as a local London magazine with a circulation of 10,000, CALMzine has been physically available at independent retailers, student unions as well as eight Topman stores in the capital, but the issue out today (June 15th) will expand into 18 key Topman locations across the UK, including locations in Manchester, Bristol, Liverpool and Glasgow, with circulation increasing to 20,000.

Created as the antidote to ineffectual and bland leaflets in GP surgeries, CALMzine goes to where men actually are - shops, bars, gig venues - and provides engaging, original and relevant content for a young male audience. Normalising discussions around issues such as depression, anxiety and suicide, and written by real men on their own terms and in their own voice, the magazine is a key part of the charity's wider campaign to create a culture change where men feel comfortable asking for help when things go wrong, without feeling a failure if they do.

CALMzine editor, Rachel Clare, said:

"Having CALMzine physically available across the country is a huge milestone for the magazine, and will allow us to reach thousands more young men with the message that they're not alone and that it's okay to ask for help. Topman's support, both with distribution and funding, will enable us to develop the magazine and grow our campaign on the ground, which is an instrumental part of our ultimate goal of lowering male suicide numbers in the UK."

Topman said:

"We’re delighted to be able to help grow the distribution of the CALMzine through 26 of our Topman stores. We’ve received a great response to the publication from customers in our London stores and so are excited to introduce it to new audiences across the UK. This is one of many ways in which Topman hope to raise awareness of CALM’s work over the next year."
