WATCH: The Chocolate Watchband - "Secret Rendezvous" and "Judgement Day" VIDEO SINGLES

Legendary 60s American garage rock band, The Chocolate Watchband announce their first album in many years.   As posted by Nathan Whittle in Louderthanwar

The Chocolate Watchband, one of the bands that pioneered the psych-garage and proto-punk sounds that came from the United States- west coast during the second half of the 60s, have announced the release of their new album, This Is My Voice , the first since their self-released 2000 album, Get Away, and their first album of new material to be given a widespread release since 1969’s One Step Beyond.

Out on the 22nd of February on Dirty Water Records, This Is My Voice will contain eleven new recordings, including a cover version I Can’t Seem To Make Your Mine, originally of their 60s LA contemporaries The Seeds. True to their counter-culture roots, the more recently-written songs address the current situation in the world, and more specifically in the US, with lead vocalist Dave Aguilar stating that he was moved to write songs like Judgement Day after seeing that “Families were living in their cars. It was a terrible time for the American dream. It resulted in the anger that put the current president into the White House. The Who were wrong, Americans can get fooled again!”

The Chocolate Watchband have been much-cherished garage band over the last 50 years as one of the pioneers of the first wave of US garage. This album sees Aguilar reunite with original members Tim Abbott on guitar and Gary Andrijasevich on drums, alongside new generation members Derek See (guitar) and Grammy-nominated producer Alex Palao (bass). The band will be embarking on a US and European tour to promote the album and thus there is only one question to ask, as they did on one of their original hits, “Are you gonna be there?”
