Formed as a garage punk band in Los Angeles during the early '80s, the Pandoras debuted with a 7" EP in 1984 on the Moxie label. That same year, the group recorded It's About Time with producer Greg Shaw, but splintered later in the year.
Despite a number of well-documented lineup changes, the Pandoras released a brilliant pair of studio albums and a series of singles and EPs until they disbanded in 1991 following the tragic death of founder Paula Pierce. However, Paula's bandmates' music careers continued to flourish, most notably as members of The Muffs and Pixies.
The have recently reunited to great acclaim featuring:
- Kim Shattuck (The Pandoras, The Muffs, Pixies): Doing Paula's job with lead vocals, screams, and lead guitar
- Melanie Vammen (The Pandoras, The Muffs, The Leaving Trains): On Vox organ, harmonica, tambourine, and backing vocals
- Karen Blankfeld (The Pandoras, The Rebble Pebbles): Taking over on bass and harmony vocals
- Hillary Burton (honeychain): Drums and backing vocals.
