More than one in ten adults planning to move house in the next year

One in ten adults say they are planning on moving house in the next year and it is younger people driving demand according to new research for elephant communications.

At a time when there has been close attention on the resurgent property market, the elephant poll of 2,000 adults explored people’s reasons for moving house. The findings dashed notions that people’s reasons for moving were based on taking advantage of the market.

The top reason for moving was to improve quality of life (33%), with one in five mentioned changing job and 12% wanting to be closer to family members.

These findings are from the first of a new series of elephant research reports that will explore people’s attitudes to property ownership and moving. Later this summer, elephant will conduct its third piece of research looking at consumer attitudes to investing in property.
