ellenor get the red-carpet treatment at Disney’s Frozen 2 premiere

Children’s hospice workers were given the Queen of Arendelle treatment on Sunday as a special thank you for their incredible work with seriously ill children and their families in hospices across the UK.

Disney UK’s partnership with Together for Short Lives, the national charity making a difference for seriously ill children, sees it create hundreds of Moments That Matter for seriously ill children and those closest to them, and for the lifeline children’s hospices that are there for them.

Disney UK and Together for Short Lives said a special thank you to children’s hospice Moment Makers from ellenor at a dedicated reception and by offering them a well-earned place on the Frozen 2 red carpet at the Central London premiere. Together for Short Lives’ Patron Holly Willoughby attended the premiere with her family and enjoyed meeting some of the Moment Makers.

Each and every day dedicated care and service staff from ellenor are caring for seriously ill children and helping them and their families to make memories that will last a lifetime.

Children’s hospice staff from ellenor relished the chance to create their own special moments and memories with their own families whilst celebrating the release of Frozen 2.

Rebecca Scalzo, Head of Children's Services said: “I am delighted for our staff to be given the opportunity to attend such an exciting event. The team are enormously passionate about supporting children with life threatening or life limiting illness. They dedicate every working day to making each moment as special as possible, for the children and families who use ellenor’s services. It is lovely to see their hard work acknowledged on this special evening.”

Together for Short Lives CEO, Andy Fletcher said:

“There are 49,000 babies, children and young people living in the UK with health conditions that are life-limiting or life-threatening. Many of these children have complex conditions and need specialist care 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The amount of work that goes on behind closed doors at children’s hospices to make sure these families get the help and support they desperately need is enormous. We are thrilled that these efforts were recognised and celebrated, and the amazing children’s hospice staff who do so much to support families were given a well-deserved chance to shine at Disney’s Frozen 2 premiere.”

Sara Hanson, Director of Charitable Programmes at Disney, said:

“We were so pleased to have the opportunity to create a special moment for those who dedicate their lives to families with children facing life-threating or life-limiting conditions. We’re very proud of our partnership with Together for Short Lives, and while we dedicate much of our efforts to creating Moments that Matter for seriously-ill children and those closest to them, we thought the Frozen 2 premiere was the perfect opportunity to recognise those who create shared moments for families every day through their local hospices. We hope they and their guests had an amazing time!”

Meet the Moment Makers

Introducing some of the incredible hospice staff who were honoured at the Frozen 2 premiere:

Sophie Fetterplace, HR & Education Administrator, said:

“I am so privileged to be working for ellenor the way that everyone works as a team to contribute to the care of children is truly remarkable. Providing care to children can be very challenging however within ellenor the support that colleagues provide to each other to help them through each day is incredible. While at the Frozen 2 premiere with Together For Short Lives, it was so amazing to meet people from all over the UK that have the same passion for providing excellent standards of care to children and it was an honour to be able to meet these people and hear their backgrounds. The work that all of these charities put into children’s care is astonishing and being able to be a part of it all is a true privilege.”

Harvinder Malhi, Senior Staff Nurse (Care home support team) said:

“It was a lovely evening enjoyed by everyone that attended – adults and children. It was a lovely honour for Disney to recognise the work of children’s hospices. In our hospice we try to support staff across the different services and departments, working together to take every opportunity to do the best for all of our patients.”

Disney’s Frozen 2 continues the story of the Academy Award® and BAFTA®-winning Frozen which became a global phenomenon following its release in 2013. Frozen 2 is one of the most anticipated animated features of all time and asks the question of why Elsa was born with magical powers? The answer is calling to her and threatening her kingdom. Together with Anna, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven, she'll set out on a dangerous but remarkable journey. Award-winning filmmakers Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee return to direct Frozen 2 which also features the voices of Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Josh Gad and Jonathan Groff and is released in cinemas on November 22nd 2019.
