ellenor’s Christmas Fair puts supporters in a festive mood

The festive season arrived at ellenor Gravesend on Saturday 26 November with the hospice charity’s annual Christmas Fair. Opened by the Mayor of Gravesham, Cllr Greta Goatley and attended by 1000 people, it raised over £5500 for families facing terminal illness.

The Fair boasted many stalls and games – ranging from hook-a-duck to cards, Indian sweets, face-painting and Christmas crafts. Among those with a stall, was Kerry Boardman – who came along with knitted pieces and beautiful crafts. ellenor cared for Kerry’s husband, Nicky– who died under our care aged just 34 in spring 2015. Kerry said she wanted to give something back for the care her family – including their young son Ethan - have received.

In addition to stalls, visitors to the fair enjoyed entertainment from talented young singer Charlotte Eade, the brilliantly-entertaining Ukelear Subs and Christmas carols courtesy of the upbeat choir from The Grace Outreach Church.

A highlight of the event for the children included meeting characters including Peppa Pig and a Stormtrooper and a visit to Father Christmas in his grotto.

“A huge thank you to everyone who supported our Christmas Fair – those who came along, the entertainers, the stall-holders, our volunteers and the our team at ellenor who have worked tirelessly over the last few weeks to make this event so successful,” says Kate Barnes, Area Fundraising Manager at ellenor. “Christmas is a really important time for families, particularly those cared for by ellenor. The funds raised at our Christmas Fair means we can continue providing 24/7 care to the families we care for across this festive period.”
