JD O’Brien is all fired up for ellenor

JD O’Brien – who featured in the most recent series of BBC One’s The Apprentice with Lord Alan Sugar – is taking part in the Sevenoaks Rotary 10K in Knole Park on Sunday 2 April and raising money for ellenor. He is running with his friend, Ashley Birch, who recently opened Birch's, a café in Seal near Sevenoaks.

JD, who owns a beachwear company called Munkle, recently moved to Seal with his wife, two children and two toy poodles.

“I was introduced to Katie Gardner from ellenor at a recent Sevenoaks Chamber of Commerce networking event,” says JD. “The charity immediately struck a chord with me, as I’ve known people and families suffering from terminal illness and I know how hard it was for them. It was pretty obvious to me that ellenor relies on help from the community, so I felt I had to help in any way I could.”

He adds: “Seal is now our home and we love it, so I want to get stuck in helping ellenor.”

ellenor is also looking for others to run in aid of the charity.

“We are delighted that JD has chosen to run in aid of ellenor and welcome his support enormously,” says Katie Gardner, Area Fundraiser at ellenor. “Any funds raised will help us to continue our work supporting families facing terminal illness. In Sevenoaks and the surrounding area we provide vital hospice at home care for very sick children and we know there are many more families we could be helping.”
