Ollie ‘Onion’ off on another adventure for ellenor

Eight-year-old Ollie ‘Onion’ Chamberlain and his Dad, Dan, from Knatts Valley, are off on another adventure on Friday 27 May – raising money for ellenor as they go! This time it’s an impressive triathlon.

The pair will be starting their challenge at St Bees in Cumbria, on the Irish Sea. From there, they will walk across Scalfell Pike (the highest mountain in England) and swim across Lake Windermere (the largest lake in England). Then they will cycle across The Yorkshire Dales, the Pennines and the North Yorkshire Moors, taking in Rosedale Chimney (one of the steepest roads in England). All in all, that’s a 50 mile walk, a one mile swim and a 150 bike ride!

This isn’t the first time that Ollie and his Dad have challenged themselves for ellenor!When he was just five years old – in 2013 – Ollie cycled 650 miles and climbed Ben Nevis! In 2014, the Dad and son pair rowed 165 miles along The Thames in a 100-year-old Canadian canoe; and, last year, they cycled 800 miles from Edinburgh to London, taking in Belfast, Dublin and Cardiff along the way – and all in just ten days!

Ollie has been training hard with long walks and cycle rides – including cycling up Vigo Hill without stopping.

Dan has been doing exciting fundraisers for a while and waited for Ollie to turn five before he took him along with him. They have set a goal of raising £4,000 this time – to help support families facing terminal illness.
