ECB appoints Meena Botros as Director of Legal & Integrity

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) today announced the appointment of Meena Botros to the role of Director of Legal & Integrity.

In the newly created role Meena will be responsible for all of ECB’s legal and integrity matters, advising on commercial arrangements and ensuring measures in the professional and recreational game meet the highest regulatory standards.

Currently the LTA’s Legal Director, Meena is a highly experienced solicitor who began his career at the international law firm Norton Rose before moving into tennis in 2011. As a member of the LTA’s leadership team, he leads on legal aspects of major commercial, broadcast and sponsorship deals, handling disciplinary issues as well as advising on governance, regulations, safeguarding and data protection.

ECB Chief Executive Tom Harrison, said:

“Following a competitive recruitment process, I’m pleased to announce Meena Botros as our Director of Legal & Integrity, reporting into Chief Financial Officer, Scott Smith. Meena will join us in September as part of our Senior Management Team.

“Meena will oversee the work of the new Integrity Department, which includes anti-doping, anti-corruption, safeguarding, player discipline, financial regulation and game-wide standards.

“Placing all these critical areas under one roof for the first time, together with Meena’s director-level appointment represent major structural steps in embedding integrity at the heart of ECB.

“We’re very pleased to have recruited a candidate of Meena’s calibre and we look forward to welcoming him to ECB in September. “

Speaking about his appointment Meena Botros said:

“I am delighted to be joining the ECB at such an exciting time for cricket in England and Wales and supporting the work of the organisation on all legal and regulatory matters. I look forward to leading the new Integrity Department and continuing the good work already underway to place integrity at the centre of ECB.”
