Young Lions Tie Dramatic Game With Bangladesh U19s

SCORECARD

Bangladesh Under 19s scrambled two runs off a frenetic final ball to somehow seal a tie with England Under 19s at Beckenham.

Kent's Jordan Cox enjoyed his home turf to score 122 on his return to the side, with 56 from captain George Balderson taking the home team up to 256/7 from their 50 overs.

In reply Bangladesh were up against it at 61/3 but an unbeaten hundred from Tawhid Hridoy and 76 from Shahadat Hossain - with whom Hridoy put on 159 for the fourth wicket - brought the visitors back into it.

England rallied to take three wickets and leave themselves in the box seat but Hridoy and Avishek Das managed to get two off the final delivery and with it secure the tie.

QUOTES

George Balderson: "It was a great effort today from the lads. We're disappointed with the tie in the end given we were in a position where we could have won the game but there were a lot of positives we could take from today.

"Coxy [Jordan Cox] has come back into the team and scored a magnificent hundred and it was nice for myself to find some form and score a fifty.

"Then our bowlers bowled really well and in the end we were unlucky not to get over the line."
