Captain publishes children’s book

Captain Arly Halkjær Pedersen, can do more than fulfil his duties on the ’Esvagt Christina’. He has just made his debut as children’s author with the book, ’Mikkel Rævehale og hans venner’, Michael Foxtail and his friends.

The book has been underway for quite some time:

“One day over 30 years ago, my son, Mikkel, came home from school and told me that he had promised the other boys in the second year that I would write a story for them. So I had no choice – I had to get writing and eventually we had 12 chapters and enough for a book,” explained Arly Halkjær Pedersen.

There was originally only one copy of the book, which was read aloud for the second year class. Arly Halkjær Pedersen was in contact with several publishing houses about releasing the book and even had an agreement in place with one publishing house, which unfortunately went bankrupt before publishing. Now the publishing house, Forlaget Hedelund, has released the book:

“I had plenty of ideas for more books when I wrote it but I am 69 now and don’t think I will be writing many new books. But it is fun to have this one published,” says Arly Halkjær Pedersen.
