Press release -

"The trade gets into your blood on the small vessels"

“Group 3 vessels are important culture carriers in ESVAGT. You learn seamanship and you learn your way around a vessel. The trade gets into your blood on the small vessels. I grew up in the fishing trade and am used to working on small vessels but for those who don’t have that background, the Group 3 vessels are an excellent place to get seamanship in your DNA and learn the trade.”

“What is good about the small vessels is that you get very close to each other. You talk to your colleagues because you work closely with them all the time. You learn a lot about safety because the vessel is livelier than the large vessels, and you learn how to look after yourself and your colleagues. Many crew members in the fleet have been on Group 3 vessels as assistants and have then moved on to other vessels and other positions. They bring the culture – safety, togetherness and their approach to work – with them when they leave”.
