Exodus launches 2013-2014 Walking & Trekking brochure

25 brand new itineraries including Exodus’ first trip to Oman, eight new European holidays for beginners and an expanded range of self-guided and premium trips

Exodus has just launched its new Walking & Trekking brochure 2013 - 2014, which is packed with over 150 of the world’s most exciting walks and treks, including 25 brand new itineraries, from leisurely walks through beautiful scenery, to challenging treks up some of the world’s highest peaks.

This year Exodus is expanding its range of more leisurely European itineraries, with eight new holidays specially designed for people who are trying out a walking holiday for the first time, or just looking to take things at a more relaxed pace. Itineraries include Walking in Cappadocia in Turkey, Walking in Albania and Classic Mont Blanc, a Premium Adventure with four-star accommodation, spa and a heated rooftop swimming pool.

For the discerning traveller looking for new and interesting destinations Exodus has launched a number of new trips in off the beaten track locations, including The Kokoda Track in Papua New Guinea, Trekking in Oman and Walking in the Azores.

Exodus is also expanding its selection of self-guided itineraries, which offer greater freedom, while still including trusted accommodation and the chance to explore some of the world’s most spectacular scenery. New itineraries include Jungfrau Peaks and Glaciers in Switzerland, Volterra to San Gimignano in Italy and Walking in Oberammergau in Germany.

The new brochure also signals the launch of Exodus’ Walking and Trekking Fitness Plan, created to help travellers prepare for their holiday.

Jim Eite, Head of Product at Exodus Travels commented, “Each year Exodus continues to develop and build on its reputation as the world’s leading walking and trekking experts and 2013 is no exception. With walking holidays all over the globe, from Europe and the Middle East, to the USA and Asia, we pride ourselves on our diverse offering with something to suit all tastes and abilities. As London 2012 puts fitness of the radar for many, we also hope our new programme of easier itineraries will encourage beginners to pull on their walking boots and give a trekking holiday a go for the first time.”

Here is a selection of Exodus’ new walking and trekking itineraries

Trekking in Oman: get to grips with Oman’s historic fort, remote villages and stunning scenery. 10 days from £1,749 including flights and most meals. First departure on 15 February 2013. Exodus’ first itinerary in what is widely regarding as the most beautiful of the Gulf State, Oman. This trip kicks off in the old town of Muscat, with a visit to the Grand Mosque before heading to the Hajar Mountains for a camping expedition. Here, travellers can explore abandoned mountain villages, walk Oman’s Grand Canyon “Balcony Walk” and traverse huge valleys in this remote part of the world. Highlights include a dramatic full day coastal walk in the Eastern Hajar Mountains and the chance to visit Nizwa Fort, the former capital.

The Kokoda Track: tackle Papua New Guinea’s most iconic trek and experience one of the world’s most enigmatic cultures. 11 days from £2,975 land only including all meals. First departure on 24 April 2013. A challenging trek through this remote destination, The Kokoda Track follows the trail the Japanese used to launch their attack against the Australians during World War II. Starting at the village of Kokoda, this trek takes in the entire trail, weaving through tiny villages, across the Owen Stanley Ranges, into lush rainforest and over creeks and rivers. Along the way travellers will pay homage at all the main battle sites and the trip ends with a visit to the Bomana War Cemetery.

Mount Etna Walking Weekend: an active weekend walking on Sicily’s mighty volcano. Four days from £749 including flights and all meals. First departure on 18 May 2013. Following the success of Exodus’ snow-filled winter walking weekend on Mount Etna, 2013 sees the launch of a specially adapted summer trip to Europe’s highest active volcano. This four-day trip takes in dormant craters, lava caves and woodland on the ever-changing face of Mount Etna. Spend one night sleeping in a mountain hut on Mount Etna’s eastern side before rising bright and early and walking to the rim of Bove Valley for unparalleled views of the volcano and the Sicilian coastline.
