On your bike! Exodus launches a new programme of UK cycling weekends and day rides

Following the overwhelming success of British cycling in the last year, Exodus is delighted to launch a series of brand new cycling weekends and day rides right here in the UK. Having seen a 35% increase in interest across their worldwide cycling trips, these new itineraries will showcase some of the finest road and off-road spots on offer closer to home, such as the Peak District, the North Downs and the Cambrian Mountains. These challenging and varied itineraries will offer cyclists and mountain bikers the opportunity to ride with fellow enthusiasts, test their ability and discover the best of Britain’s trails under the guidance of experts.

The trips will be led by Exodus’ cycling development manager, Olly Townsend, who commented: “With our 2012 Olympic success behind us and the 2014 Tour de France Grand Depart taking place in the UK, there has never been a better time to embrace cycling in the UK. Each one of Exodus’ new trips has been designed to allow cyclists and mountain bikers the chance to ride somewhere new, challenge themselves and take this fantastic hobby to a new level, as well as being an ideal option for cyclists to train for a longer cycling holiday abroad.”

Here are details of Exodus’ new cycling weekends and day rides:

Trans-Cambrian Long Weekend The Trans-Cambrian Way is an epic 175km mountain bike route, running from the English/Welsh border to the Irish Sea across the remote hills and moorlands of central Wales. The riding in this area varies from smooth and fast moorland tracks, quiet minor roads and stunning, rocky singletrack. This challengingly tough route heads through the centre of the Cambrian Mountains, climbing 3,700m in total, and represents a fantastic challenge for any mountain biking enthusiast. Takes place 13 – 16 September 2013. Priced at £350 per person including B&B accommodation and most meals.

Peak District Trails The Peak District National Park is home to some of the UK's most varied mountain biking trails, from fast, twisty moorland singletrack to boulder-strewn jeep trails. This weekend will feature some famous trails such as 'Roman Road', 'The Beast' and the 'Lockerbrook Farm Descent’, as well as allowing cyclists to discover lesser known corners of the Peak District. Takes place 7 – 9 June. Priced at £170 including B&B accommodation and most meals.

Secret South Downs This weekend offers spectacular cycling in the UK's South Downs, considered by many as a road cycling mecca. With its combination of rolling terrain, small scenic towns and low-traffic country roads, it's easy to see why this area is such a favourite with riders. To ensure cyclists get maximum value, this weekend is led by local expert Jo Burt, who knows the Sussex road network intimately and will be showing off what the South Downs have to offer. Takes place on 17 – 18 August. Priced at £119 per person including hotel accommodation and most meals.

North Downs Highlights This day ride traverses the road network used for the 2012 London Olympic Road Race – its beautiful scenery and quiet roads offer challenging climbing for those who want it with plenty of gentle flowing roads for those who prefer a more leisurely pace. Takes place 7 July. Priced at £30 per person.

North Downs Singletrack Whilst not mountainous, what this area lacks in altitude it makes up for in the quality and quantity of singletrack trails. Starting in Dorking, this full day mountain biking ride will showcase the very best of the area. Takes place 6 July. Priced at £30 per person.
