The Truth About Cholesterol

Cholesterol, a widely used word, but do you have the correct information that can help determine your health? More importantly can your doctor explain it too?

Many people are told that their cholesterol is too high. What does that really mean? Break it down, ask for full readings and an informative analysis of your cholesterol ratio. Two types of cholesterol are LDL and HDL. The first is unhealthy and is the one in which we need to keep low. This is hampered by the western diet of high sugars from over loading in carbohydrates when your body cannot tolerate them. Some people are different, e.g. my tolerance may be lower than yours, you could be able to eat plenty of clean carbs and I may not. LDL is also elevated by lack of exercise in conjunction with poor diet choices. I can bet that anyone reading this will have or know someone who has any of these issues, as sad as that is, it’s true:

1. Increased risk of cancer
2. Increased risk or have diabetes type 1 and 2. 3.
3. High cholesterol
4. Depression
5. Increased risk of heart disease

Therefore I am writing this article to help you. Cholesterol can have a major part to play in all of these issues. Your other part of the ratio in cholesterol is HDL, this is the part in which we need to keep high by use of healthy saturated fats such as, coconut oil, fish, avocado and red meat. This HDL cholesterol will do many amazing things; firstly they help oxidise the fats that can cause inflammation in the arteries. This is something that will help blood flow and decrease risk of heart disease.

When told people have high cholesterol, doctors prescribe statins. This is the number 1 NO NO in dealing with the matter. Stopping all forms of cholesterol is extremely dangerous and will only lead to greater problems. Please if family members are on statins, show them this article. Cholesterol actually regulates your hormonal health in many ways, it is the major molecule in which Vitamin D binds too. This is the vitamin that is always very low in cancer patients and those that suffer with depression (taking a good quality vitamin D3 supplement is strongly advised). Blocking the cholesterol is something that would actually increase risks of 2 of the ‘top 5 killers’ in the UK.

Your liver function would also suffer, due to high toxicity in the modern day world, our liver function must be optimised. As well as the obvious advise to reduce alcohol intake. Cholesterol is something that actually helps synthesise the bile acids which helps detoxify the liver. It also helps insulate the cell membranes in the brain, nervous system, spinal cord and peripheral nerves. This is your central nervous system, one of the most important systems in the body, causing a breakdown here would lead to disaster in the human functionality. If your serum levels are low, which is often found then please get your bloods checked for Zinc, Magnesium and Vitamin D. All in which are easily fixable through correct dosage of organic supplementation.
