Our featured job of the week is for one of the largest and most complex integrated care trusts in the country, who are seeking an exceptional individual to join them as Director of Corporate Affairs.

Their team of 9,000 clinical and support staff serve a diverse population of approximately 850,000 people, with over 338,000 patients attending their emergency departments and urgent care centres last year. With a turnover of £680m, their vision is to provide excellent clinical care in the right setting by being compassionate, responsive and innovative.

The postholder will act as the principal advisor to the Chair, Chief Executive and Board of Directors on all issues relating to corporate governance, ensuring the Trust’s corporate affairs are undertaken to the highest standards. Suitable candidates will have held a similar role within a complex organisation, with previous experience providing legal advice and services at a corporate level. They will have a significant track record of working with leadership teams and will be able to support the Chair and the Chief Executive in developing the capability of the Board.

In addition to this the Director of Corporate Affairs will manage the Trust’s Legal, Corporate Governance, Communications functions and teams. This will require the postholder to ensure the Trust has effective internal and external communications. They will also need to work closely with Directors in the implementation and delivery of the Trust’s agreed approach to Corporate Governance and Board Assurance Framework.

As a suitable candidate you will have excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, able to develop productive relationships with Board Directors where you can support and challenge as required. You will be a strategic thinker with the ability to analyse and resolve complex issues. To underpin this you will be a motivational leader with excellent team management skills.
