Our featured job of the week is for our client, an NHS Trust in London, who are looking to appoint an individual with exceptional commercial and strategic skills to lead their infrastructure, estate, environmental and commercial development activities across their entire property portfolio.

London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust is one of the largest and most complex integrated care trusts in the country, bringing together hospital and community services across Brent, Ealing and Harrow. Our team of 9,000 clinical and support staff serve a diverse population of approximately 850,000 people, with over 338,000 patients attending our emergency departments and urgent care centres last year. With a turnover of £680m, our vision is to provide excellent clinical care in the right setting by being compassionate, responsive and innovative.

The Trust has been on a journey of improvement in areas of service quality and financial sustainability. Through a focus on effective culture development and efficient operational management we are seeing great positive outcomes. It is an exciting time to be joining our organisation and we hope you can be a part of our future.

The Trust has an extensive and diverse estate portfolio including Northwick Park Hospital, St Marks Hospital, Central Middlesex Hospital (PFI), and Ealing Hospital, alongside 7 freehold community properties and a further 15 rental properties in the Boroughs of Ealing, Harrow and Brent. Following the development of a future clinical strategy for North West London, ‘Shaping a Healthier Future’, several extensive capital programmes are in development, aimed at improving the Estate, increasing appropriate clinical capacity, and improving efficiency and compliance.

We are now seeking an individual with exceptional commercial and strategic skills to join the Trust. You will lead our infrastructure, estate, environmental and commercial development activities across the entire property portfolio, alongside responsibility for the operational delivery of all facilities management and engineering services within the Estate. With deep experience of managing a complex estates and facilities portfolio, you will play a pivotal role in developing the Trust’s estate utilisation ensuring our facilities offer an environment of excellence and satisfaction for our patients and workforce. Offering a safety culture and philosophy, you will assume responsibility for Fire Safety, Security, Decontamination and Health and Safety at Board level; providing strong and active leadership and ensuring that suitable policies and procedures are in place in compliance with statutory requirements. We would expect you to optimise maximum benefit from existing assets to allow improvement and advancement of the Trust’s service portfolio and work to minimise the carbon footprint of Trust services within national frameworks.

We are looking for a strategically minded individual, skilled in leading change and continuous development, with extensive experience in a Senior Management position holding responsibility and accountability for the delivery of an Estates and Facilities service, ideally within a healthcare setting. A natural collaborator with an engaging and persuasive style, you will provide dynamic commercial leadership to the Trust in leveraging sustainable benefits from the Trust’s Estate, and be able to demonstrate poise, gravitas and diplomacy for dealing with an array of stakeholders as a representative of the Trust’s Executive Team.

This is truly an exciting and challenging strategic opportunity in a highly ambitious and driven organisation. You will be joining a committed and talented group of clinical and managerial colleagues and play a key strategic role in shaping the delivery of care across London, and the wider health system.
