Professor Chris Ham - Chief Executive of the King's Fund was our first keynote speaker today.

Professor Ham spoke about the way the NHS was responding to the Francis Report.

He said the NHS needed to learn from best performing healthcare organisations, both in UK and abroad. He added there is no quick fix to changing the culture of the NHS. 

Key ingredients for success include;

•  organisational stability, 
• a focus on quality and 
• safety and clear improvement goals. 
• Some of these essential ingredients 'are rare in the NHS'
