Elastic {ON}17 Tour London

My Colleague William Hailes, IT Service Analyst at Fortrus provides an insight into the recent Elastic{ON}17 Tour London event, that took place on the 22nd June.

“Recently my colleagues and I made the trip to London to see what Elastic could offer Fortrus outside of the ElasticSearch indexer we have deployed at a number of our customer sites. Throughout the day, Elastic were able to show us the power of their ELK stack in terms of indexing, log capture and visual representation logs using ElasticSearch, Logstash and Kibana respectively.

Kibana specifically could allow our customers to manipulate log data into a simple dashboard, allowing them to quickly measure the output of various applications, monitor system performance or any number of custom configurations.

Other than the ELK stack presentations, the keynote from CEO Shay Bannon, was particularly interesting and highlighted the formation and future of the Elastic organisation. It seems that the number of powerful, open source tools available to us, for use with our customer data, is only going to get bigger and will hopefully one day represent some excellent functional innovations we can use for our existing or future clients.

Though this wasn’t a dedicated training session, we were able to see some great products in a working environment, providing us with options for new, open-source monitoring solutions, as and when the customer requirement may arise".
