CCTV images released after suspected fraud in Eastleigh

We have issued CCTV images of a man we would like to speak to in connection with a suspected fraud in Eastleigh.

A man called at the house of an elderly woman in The Crescent between 12pm and 3pm on Monday 23 July.

He asked for her phone number, as well as money for building works that were not required.

He later returned and she handed over her bank card and PIN.

In total, over £1,000 was taken.

The man is described as follows:

  • White
  • 40 to 50 years old
  • 5ft 8ins to 5ft 9ins tall
  • Stocky
  • Dark, swept back hair
  • Wearing a light shirt with collar

We have had four similar reports in Eastleigh between 23 and 24 July - in Doncaster Road, Victoria Road, George Street and Arnold Road.

There was also a report from Cox Row, Chandler’s Ford on 24 July.

In some cases, callers pretended to be from the council.

We are investigating the possibility that these incidents may be linked.
