Press release -

Appeal following assault in Southampton.

We are investigating a serious assault in Southampton, which has left a 21 year man with serious injuries.

Officers were called to St Marys Place in Southampton at 1:28pm on Saturday 23 March by our colleagues from South Central Ambulance Service, where the victim was receiving treatment for a stab wound to his arm.

He had been approached by a large group of men who assaulted him at the Skate Park in Hoglands Park shortly beforehand. One of the men was reported to have used a weapon to stab the victim in his left arm. The victim’s grey rucksack was also stolen.

The victim then left the park and sought help in St Mary’s Place.

Enquiries are ongoing to establish what happened.

We have regular patrols in the area, which will continue.

Anyone with any information or concerns can speak to one of these uniformed officers.

We would like to hear from anyone who was in that area at that time and saw what happened, or who may have located the victim’s rucksack if it was later discarded. We would also like to hear from anyone who may have mobile phone footage of the group involved in the assault.
