Appeal for witnesses following fatal collision on the A31 this morning

We’re appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision the A31 between Winchester and Alresford this morning.

Officers were called at 8.42am to reports of a collision on the A31 eastbound, at the junction with Rodfield Lane.

The collision involved a Land Rover Discovery and a motorbike.

The motorcyclist, a man in his 50’s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His next of kin have been notified and are being supported by specialist officers.

The driver of the car, a woman, suffered minor injuries.

The collision caused the eastbound carriageway to be closed between the Percy Hobbs roundabout and the junction with Rodfield Lane.

The closure has now been lifted and the road is fully open. We would like to thank motorists for their patience while we dealt with this incident.

Investigations into the exact circumstances of the collision are ongoing and officers would like to speak to anyone who may have seen the incident or either vehicle prior to what happened.
