Use What Is There!

Weather doesn't belong, it just is.

I was in the post office one day waiting in line when this obviously annoyed lady came in soaked and dripping from the rain.
I smiled at her as is my wont with people who are scowling.
Being British she took this as an opportunity to explain the scowl by giving me her meteorological observation, she grumbled, "Isn't the weather miserable?"
My wit often being quicker than my wisdom replied, "No, You are miserable; the weather is just the weather."
As she'd added the question mark and spoken aloud, and as post office ques, like Doctors waiting rooms in England, are places where few strangers seize the moment to connect, and stand quietly without chatter, everyone had turned to see what the commotion was about; so I was of course compelled to reply.
It could have gone badly but, she had seen the smile maybe, or the tone of voice, at least something made the neuro linguistic connections that this was indeed wit and so she smiled.
I like to remember that they all did, even though they were wet. We all were.
We don't always have any control of what's there, but we can take the opportunity to use it.
