Award Winning Baking Blogger Book Signing

Britt Whyatt's story is one of sadness and sheer determination, which she outlines throughout her book Cakes Bakes and Business. Not only is it a very practical account of how to start a home baking business, but one of personal endeavour and how she started hers and the hoops and tears she went through to succeed. "I started baking and decorating cakes in 2010. Having never really baked before, and being at home recovering from surgery and the after effects of septicaemia, as well as dealing with severe depression and social anxiety after the loss of my single parent mum when I was just 16, I was asked by a friend to make a cake for a charity bake sale."

Britt has come a long way since those times now at 29 with her first book under her belt she lets you in to her trials and tribulations conversationally as though you're having a chat, after describing how she started she clarify's your why: "If you’ve bought this book for yourself, I’m guessing you’ve been baking for a little while, covered yourself in flour more than once, spent far too much money on cute baking tools and novelty tins that were on sale, that you’ll probably never use (or is that just me…); you’ve been making cakes for family and friends at gatherings and birthdays and the reception has been positive and you’ve been enjoying creating. So, through requests from people in your life, or a desire for a career change, whether voluntary or enforced, or a little spark of entrepreneurship and wanting to be your own boss. The life of a professional cake maker is calling you."

Whatever your journey into the world of working from home, to make extra cash, to start a full time enterprise then Britt's book has the lot from - where to start - through marketing - through legal challenges (the bits you need to know).

Britt herself has been quoted as saying that "without social marketing she wouldn't have a business", so she does know what she's talking about, the success of her Blog SheWhoBakes is largely down to her social networking and she gives it back in spades in her book.

Now with a massive following, cameo TV appearances on the Bake Off spinoff show on the BBC in 2015 and with her first published book, Britt will be signing books and answering questions at Iced Jems in Stourbridge, one of her first suppliers, to meet some of her fans and talk about her story into the wonderful world of Baking.

You can meet Britt at:
