Happy Birthday to Her Majesty The Queen

On the 21st of April, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will celebrate her 92nd Birthday, and will have reigned for 24,182 days. Britain’s longest reigning monarch has been fortunate to see 3 generations of her own family born – the latest addition of course is due any day now. She has shared weekly audiences with no less than 13 Prime Ministers, carried out over 265 overseas visits and has made the equivalent of 42 trips around the world during her reign. Considering Her Majesty was never born to be Queen and was thrust into the role at a young age she has guided the British Monarchy through the last 65 years, modernising it where necessary but also upholding and reinforcing British values throughout the world.

Her ‘official’ birthday takes place in June, this year on Saturday June 9th. The tradition of two birthdays dates back to 1748 when George II wished to celebrate his birthday in the November as well during the summer time. For Her Majesty’s official birthday the Royal Family will gather for the Trooping of the Colour Parade after which the Royal Family will make an appearance together on the balcony of Buckingham palace to the public.
