If there is one thing that The Bitter Truth is famous for, it is for bringing back previously loved products that have not been around for decades, even centuries. Products being produced just how they were meant to be produced.
Going back to basics begs the question - what is classic Pink Gin? The answer... English Proof Strength gin; water; and Bitters.
There is a high chance that you have heard of it, seen it or even tried a variation of it before, but with the hype surrounding gin it seems that a classic Pink Gin is getting lost amongst the crowd. And, it poses the question, does anyone really know what Pink Gin is anymore?
Lucky for us, The Bitter Truth has got a Classic Navy Style Pink Gin that gets back to basics.
Inspired by Royal Navy roots, back when gin was rationed, and bitters were for medicinal purposes, this is a Pink Gin as it should be and like you've never had before.
The tradition of blending gin and bitters first started out life by members of the Royal Navy to cure sea sickness. Drank to rally a man against the wiles of the ocean Pink Gin quickly became an everyday breakfast for seafarers. This stemmed from English Navy ships limited supplies consisting of: gin at English Proof Strength (58% ABV); water; and Bitters. They mixed these three components, to end up somewhere at 40% ABV. It is said that a gin was of a high proof if the gunpowder (used to shoot the canons) got wet at sea, they could pour the gin over it and it would still ignite. If gunpowder could still burn when a spirit was poured over it, it was over proof and therefore also taxed at a higher rate.
The Bitter Truth Pink Gin is giving the world a slice of history in a delicious blend of traditionally crafted premium gin and a dedicated mix of aromatic bitters. It will also definitely please modern tastes with a soft and gentle mouth feel and fine complex flavours.
