Appeal after shots fired at house in Bootle

Detectives are appealing for information after shots were fired at a house in Bootle this evening (Saturday 21 September 2019).

Shortly after 9.10pm, officers were called to Markfield Road to reports of shots being fired at the property, causing damage to a window but no injuries. An investigation is underway to establish the exact circumstances.

House to house, forensic and CCTV enquiries are ongoing and community policing officers will be in the area to speak to local residents and offer reassurance.

Chief Inspector Mark Everard said: "Thankfully there are no reports anyone was hurt during this incident, but we know from previous incidents just how dangerous it can be to discharge a firearm in a street with little or no regard for the people who live there.

“This was an extremely reckless act and I would urge anyone who saw or heard anything to please come forward as soon as possible to help us bring the offender to justice.

“Did you see anyone acting suspiciously around 9.10pm? Your information, home CCTV or dashcam footage could prove vital.

"Information from the public has helped us take guns off the streets and put the people who use them behind bars. With your help again, we can continue to act on all information to prevent incidents like this happening again.
