Appeal following assault in Tranmere

We are appealing for information after a report a man was assaulted in Tranmere last month.

It was reported the man was assaulted while walking on the pavement on New Chester Road, near to Royal Standard House, at about 12.30pm on Wednesday 28 August 2019.

The victim became involved in an argument with a man on a bicycle, who then cycled into the victim, punched him to the face and pushed him into the road. The offender then left on the bike towards Birkenhead.

He is described as being white, 30-50 years old, 5ft 8in to 6ft tall. of medium build and with dark, thinning hair. He was wearing a purple/ble rain jacket, black tracksuit bottoms and trainers.

The victim sustained a leg injury during the incident.

CCTV enquiries have been explored in the surrounding area and enquiries into the assault are ongoing.

Detective Constable Terri Walker said: “This incident quickly escalated to the point where the offender used serious violence. In pushing the victim into a road with moving traffic, the consequences could have been far worse.

“We would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed any part of this incident, or been driving past at the time and captured any part of it on dashcam.
