Appeal for information following alleged road rage incident in Bootle

Detectives are appealing for information following an incident in Bootle last month, in which a taxi was allegedly driven towards two people.

At around 6.25pm on Saturday 26 January, a report was received of an incident on Bridge Road, during which it is reported that the occupants of a black 3 Series BMW were involved in a disagreement with the driver of a private hire taxi.

The driver of the taxi is alleged to have driven into a man and woman after they left their vehicle, pinning the man in between the two vehicles and causing him a minor leg injury, as well as damage to their vehicle.

The taxi is described as a black Peugeot Expert private hire, with a yellow sign on the roof, with two front seats, and five at the back.

The driver is described as white, mid 30s, with a round face, dark sandy, wavy hair, and a stocky build. He wore a dark jacket with a collar.

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the identity of this taxi and speak to the driver.

Detective Constable Donna Oakley said: “The exact circumstances of this incident are unclear but it appears to be a case of road rage, in which we believe a car was driven towards the victims, thankfully not resulting in more serious injuries.

“It would have been extremely distressing to experience or witness and I want to appeal for anyone who saw this incident, who was passing with dashcam or has home or business CCTV to come forward. We think there were witnesses to this incident, which lasted a few minutes at a busy time of day. Any piece of information you have could be vital to this ongoing investigation.”
