Detectives are appealing for witnesses following a firearms discharge in Halewood this evening, Tuesday, 23 April.

A report was received at about 6.45pm that shots had been fired in Blakeacre Road.

Officers and Crime Scene investigators attended and damage to a car consistent with a firearms discharge was located.

House-to-house and forensic enquiries are being carried out in the area and anyone with information is asked to contact police.

Chief Inspector Mark Everard said: “We remain in the Blakeacre Road area where a cordon has been established and a full investigation is underway to find those responsible.

“I would ask anyone in the area who may have seen or heard any suspicious behaviour, or anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage to please come forward. We are committed to tackling gun crime, there is absolutely no place for firearms on our streets and I would ask our communities to come to us with any information, no matter how small, which could assist our enquiries.”
