Appeal for information following firearms discharge in Huyton

Detectives are appealing for information following a firearms discharge in Huyton this afternoon, Monday, 22 July.

At around 2.40pm, it was reported that a man had got out of a white car described as a BMW in Brookwood Road, before firing shots towards Adswood Road and leaving in the car.

Patrols attended and carried out a search of the area. A car that was in the street at the time of incident had suffered damage consistent with a firearms discharge.

House-to-house inquiries are underway and officers will be looking at CCTV from the area in a bid to identify the offenders.

Chief Inspector Chris Joughin said: “We are in the very early stages of the investigation but I can confirm that officers remain in the area while we try to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident.

"This happened in a residential area in broad daylight and we cannot let people think this is acceptable and that they can get away with it. We need help from the local community to identify those responsible so that we can take the offenders off the streets and put them before the courts.

“I would appeal to anyone who heard or saw any suspicious behaviour, or maybe saw a white BMW-type car in the area to please get in touch. Gun crime is unacceptable in our communities and any information, no matter how small, may assist us in identifying those responsible."

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any dashcam or CCTV footage from the area is asked to contact @MerPolCC, 101 quoting ref. 566 or @CrimestoppersUK anonymously on 0800 555 111.
