Appeal for information following shot fired at house in Bootle

We are investigating following reports of a firearms discharge in Bootle last night, Monday 4 February.

We were contacted at around 8.50pm to reports of witnesses hearing loud bangs in Byron Street. Patrols attended and found damage to a house consistent with a firearms discharge. Nobody was injured during the incident.

An investigation is underway and house-to-house and CCTV enquiries are being carried out in the local area. A search of the surrounding area will resume this morning.

Detective Inspector Tony O’Brien said: “I would appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity of Byron Street this evening who saw anyone or anything suspicious to contact us. We are also interested in any dash-cam footage which may have captured the incident.

“Luckily nobody was hurt during the incident but understandably this causes concern for our communities and I want to reassure them that we will do everything we can to find the people responsible and bring them to justice."

Anyone with information is asked to DM @MerPolCC, call 101 quoting reference 0982 of 4 February, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
