Appeal for information following stabbing of man in Walton last night

We’re appealing for information following an assault in Walton last night, Thursday 18 April.

At around 11.55pm, the ambulance service reported treating a man in his 20s in Euston Street for stab wounds to his right arm and a superficial injury to his back. He was taken to hospital for treatment and is described as stable.

It was reported that the victim had been with two friends when he was assaulted by two men, one of whom was in possession of a bat and the second a knife. They are thought to have run from the scene towards Bedford Road.

CCTV, house-to-house and forensic enquiries continue and detectives are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.

Chief Inspector George Phillips said: "At this stage it is unclear what led to this violent attack so we are keen to hear from anyone who saw the incident, or who has heard anything since, to come forward.

"The suspects ran off immediately afterwards, so if you live in the Euston Street or Bedford Road area or were passing in a vehicle, please check any CCTV or dashcam as it may have captured some vital evidence.

"We understand the concern and harm that knife crime causes across Merseyside and with your information, we will continue to make arrests, recover weapons and remove these dangers from the streets."

Anyone with information is asked to contact @MerPolCC with reference 1910018782 or come forward anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
