Appeal for witnesses following arson in Prenton, Wirral

Merseyside Police and Merseyside and Fire and Rescue (MFRS) have launched a joint investigation following a suspected arson in the Prenton area last night, Thursday 31 January.

At around 8pm, a call was received of a vehicle on fire outside an address in Shrewsbury Road. Emergency services attended and a Ford Fiesta was found to be on fire causing extensive damage. Nobody was injured and forensic, CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing.

Detective Chief Inspector Robbie Moss said: "We believe that this is a targeted attack and I want to appeal to anyone with information to come forward.

"There would have been people around the Shrewsbury Road area at 8pm so if you saw or heard anything suspicious and have home CCTV or were passing with dashcam, let us know and we will act on all information provided to find those responsible for this reckless attack."
