Appeal for witnesses following confrontational burglary in Tranmere

We are appealing for witnesses following a confrontational burglary in Tranmere last night, Monday 25th February.

At approximately 8.35pm a 37 year-old man returned to his home address on Old Chester Road to find three females and two males in his property. When he challenged them he was assaulted and racially abused.

It is believed the altercation continued outside the property before the group then made off in a dark blue Vauxhall Corsa.

Two gold rings were stolen during the burglary. The man was not seriously injured and did not require hospital treatment.

An investigation is underway and house-to-house enquiries and forensic enquiries have been carried out in the local area.

A 33 year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of burglary and released under investigation.

Detective Inspector Paul Parry said: “An investigation is underway to establish the full circumstances of what happened.

“I would appeal to anyone who saw a blue Vauxhall Corsa in the area around Old Chester Road or saw anyone or anything suspicious in the area around 8.35pm last night to contact us.”

Anyone with information is asked to DM @MerPolCC, call 101 or contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 quoting reference 19100072550.
