Appeal for witnesses following robbery at Sainsbury's Liverpool

We are appealing for witnesses following a robbery at Sainsbury’s in Jennifer Avenue, Liverpool, this morning, Sunday 28th July.

At around 10am three males, who were wearing dark clothing and sunglasses and had their faces covered, entered the store. One male approached a travel money counter and grabbed a quantity of cash. One of the males is believed to have been armed with a hammer.

The males left the store and drove off in a silver/grey Volkswagon Golf driven by a fourth man.

Nobody was injured but staff members were left shaken by their ordeal.

CCTV and forensic enquiries are being carried out and an investigation is underway.

Detective Inspector Phil Atkinson said: “The store would just have opened when this incident took place and I would appeal to anyone who was in the store, or the car park or who saw the males enter or leave the supermarket to contact us.

“Similarly we know that the grey coloured Volkswagon Golf left the car park via the exit near McDonalds and I would ask anyone who may have captured anything on dash cam footage to get in touch.

“The investigation is in the very early stages but we are committed to finding these people. These are not victimless crimes. Thankfully nobody was hurt but a number of members of staff have been left shaken by what took place.”

Anyone with information is asked to DM @MerPolCC, call 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting log 334 of 28th July.
