Appeal for witnesses following serious collision - Stopgate Lane, Walton

We are appealing for witnesses following a serious collision in Walton this morning, Wednesday, 17 July.

At around 8.15am, patrols were called to Stopgate Lane to reports a Toyota Prius had been in collision with an eight-year-old boy and a seven-year-old girl.

Emergency services attended and the boy has been taken to hospital in a critical condition. The girl has been taken to hospital for treatment of a minor leg injury. The driver of the vehicle stopped at scene to assist with enquiries.

Road closures remain in place on Stopgate Lane and anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to get in touch.

Sergeant Martin Mayne, from the Roads Policing Unit said: “We are currently working to establish the full circumstances of this collision which has left a young boy with critical injuries.

“The incident occurred at a busy time of day in a populated area and we know a number of people must have seen the collision or the lead up to it. I would like to thank the many witnesses that are already assisting our enquiries and would ask anyone who was in the area or nearby, or has any CCTV or dashcam footage to please get in touch.

“We are determined to piece together the exact circumstances and any information or footage could greatly assist our enquiries.”
